If you’re wondering where to stay in Bergen, Norway, your search ends here!
Each morning, I’d wake up at the *Clarion Hotel Admiral, open up my balcony doors, and step out into the crisp spring air to a view of towering, tree-covered mountains and historic Bryggen, behind dazzling seawater, and I fell in love with Bergen more and more by each fleeting second.
And later, as darkness fell, reflections of sunshine on the water slowly faded into a flittering golden glow, as the sea rushed by, and Bergen lit up for the night ahead. All this, I saw, from my balcony at the *Clarion Hotel Admiral.

The incredible view of Bryggen from our balcony at the Clarion Hotel Admiral was enough; however, my love for the Clarion Hotel Admiral runs deeper than just the view.
First off, the Clarion Hotel Admiral is situated right on the water, just across from Bryggen, and next to a variety of different restaurants, bars, and cafés, as well as some of the best shopping you could hope for. From the fjord tour docks to Bergen’s best museums to the Fløibanen funicular up to Mt. Fløyen, everything you will want to see and do is in easy walking distance from the Clarion Hotel Admiral. We could not have hoped for a more central and convenient location.
Stepping into the hotel, the lobby, lounge, bar, and restaurant exude a fun, stylish vibe; from the moment we walked in, we knew that our stay at the Clarion Hotel Admiral would be above average.
As you’ve probably noticed from these photos, the hotel rooms here aren’t lacking in natural light, and there are plenty of big windows facing Bryggen for your viewing pleasure. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the tiles in the restrooms are heated, the large flatscreen televisions are mounted across from the beds, and both the rooms and restrooms have an overall comfortable, spacious, and chic feel. What more could you ask for?
On our first night at the Clarion Hotel Admiral, we were too tired and lazy to go anywhere after our long day on the Norway in a Nutshell tour, so we dined in with Clarion’s room service and enjoyed a delicious dinner from the hotel’s Kitchen and Table restaurant. Room service can be iffy depending on the hotel, but here, no way. Our night in couldn’t have been better between the yummy food, comfy beds, and good night’s sleep.
Each morning, we peacefully awoke to the sounds of happy seagulls flying around the wharf and warm sunshine streaming in through our windows. Of course, the next step to a wonderful day of exploring is a good breakfast, and that’s exactly what we found at the Clarion Hotel Admiral. Never in my life have I laid eyes on such a beautiful hotel breakfast buffet. From fruit, to bacon and eggs, to croissants and other pastries, to cold cuts and cheese and smoked fish, to a build your own parfait bar, this breakfast buffet cannot be beat! All it’s missing is potatoes. If there were potatoes, it would be even better, if that’s even possible.
We spent four lovely nights in Bergen at the Clarion Hotel Admiral, and if I ever return to Bergen (and I really hope I do someday), there’s nowhere else I’d rather stay.
So as I said before, if you’ve been wondering where to stay in Bergen, Norway, you’ve certainly found the one. The Clarion Hotel Admiral is the place for you if you like beautifully designed, centrally located hotels that have great breakfast buffets!
